David J. Halberstam, principal of Halby Group, has had a long career in sales and sales management, having spent ten years at Westwood One where he was promoted to EVP, Sports. Westwood One is among the top three national radio networks in America. Westwood’s rights include the NFL, the NCAA Tournament, the Masters and other prestigious events. He oversaw some $75 million in annual billing. To make his numbers, new business was the charge every day!Earlier in his career, he spent ten years at Katz Media, growing its sports department. Katz is the country’s largest national station representative. Halberstam had the responsibility for selling national, MLB, NFL, NHL, NFL and NCAA packages.In addition to serving as corporate sales director for the Miami Heat, Halberstam also formed the Madison Square Garden Radio Network and grew St. John’s University’s sponsorship support to more than $1 million annually in the 1980’s!
